In a filling station, somewhere on highway No. 8 in Morocco, an old sheikha confided in me, a ten-year old child. Her words, which for a long time have remained a mystery to me, gave rise to an itinerary that, today, between city and countryside, between fear and fascination, I am questioning. I am clearing my way in search of the Moroccan sheikhats, carrying these indelible words in my mind: "May the Lord preserve you from the debauchery that is mine!".
