Wasis DIOP (Aziz DIOP, his real name) is a Guitarist, Singer, Songwriter, Film Director, Screenwriter, Director of Photography and Producer.

He is known for the films "Hyenas-Ramatou'' (1992, Composer/ Artistic Director),''TGV', "La Petite vendeuse de soleil'' (1999, Composer/ Artistic Director), "Le prix du pardon", "Les couilles de l'éléphant'' (2001, Composer), "L'Odyssée de l'Espèce" (Singer), "Badou Boy' (1970, Actor / Still Photographer),'Les princes noirs de St-Germain des Prés'' (1975, Actor),'The Eleventh Commandment' (1998, Actor),'Flowers of Blood' (2002, Actor).

After eight years of discographic absence, the elegant Wasis Diop is back with a refined & personal project with delicate melodies. Whether sampled by Dr Dre & Track-master for "The Firm", or chosen for the soundtrack of "The Thomas Crown Affair" by John McTiernan with Pierce Brosnan or for the films of a master of French cinema like Techiné... Wasis Diop continues his route with integrity and musical talent that make him an artist impossible to circumvent in World Music. 2007, Wasis Diop will be releasing his long awaited 4th solo album.
