Le Grain dans la meule paints a picture of the Kabyle world through a story of vendetta on the eve of colonization. It is Malek Ouary's best known novel.
Mohamed Ifticene made an adaptation of it for the small screen entitled Les Rameaux de feu (Alg, 1983).
